March 6, 2009 - 2 p.m. (Friday) World Day of Prayer - at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church 15347 Yonge St Aurora. For more information contact Delia Bernardi 905-841-1016 - Please join us. Participating churches Christ Lutheran, First Baptist, Trinity Anglican, Aurora United, St. Andrew's Presbyterian and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

This year World Day of Prayer is written by the women of Papua New Guinea. World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together the first Friday of March to observe a common day of prayer each year. Through World Day of Prayer, women affirm their faith in Jesus Christ and become aware of the whole world; are enriched by the faith experience of Christians of other countries and cultures; share the burdens of other people and pray with them and for them; become aware of their own talents and use them in the service of God's world. Prayer and action are inseparable and both have immeasurable influence in the world.

In Christ, there are many members yet one body.                                                                                                                      back to top

During VBS each child made 2 prayer bears, one for themselves and one to send to an at-risk child in Africa. This was a fantastic way for kids to demonstrate Jesus' Love through giving and service. We joined other children across North America in this missions project, "Operation Kid-to Kid". We have a good quantity of bears left which is a great opportunity for everyone in our congregation to have part in this project. Details will be announced in church and you can make one/two or more bears on Sunday September 23rd after the service. We plan to show you slide shows of the children's VBS! It will be fun!

WORKSHOP

"EQUIPPING THE SAINTS" Saturday: October 21, 2006 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Everyone is invited to this FREE Workshop! You don't have to be a member of Christ Lutheran church to participate.

On October 21, Saturday, we shall conduct the seminar  "Equipping the Saints" from 10:00 - 12:00.  We will search answers to the questions: Who are the Saints? Who are the lost? How and where do I find them? Lunch Break!

From 13:30 - 17:00 we shall find answers to question:  How and where do I find the lost?  Try it! You'll like it! Welcome to the team.

Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora is hosting Equipping the Saints workshop. Designed to help pastors and lay people to learn how to care for the lost. We are always delighted to see the dramatic changes that take place within the congregation after the workshop is over. As a result congregation is strengthened to start an effective outreach program, bring new energy to the congregation.

As church members learn about the effects of postmodernism on the way we live and the changing needs of the lost, they're more willing to adapt their worship, Bible study programs and church activities to accommodate seekers.

A congregation participating in Equipping the Saints workshop are also able to build strong and effective mission and vision.

What you will take away from this workshop:

a/ A renewed interest in reaching the lost with life-centered Gospel messages. People who have attended the worship in post-communist countries report they are no longer afraid to speak about their faith with friends, neighbors and family members.

b/ A fuller understanding of evangelism - what it is, how you do it and what effect it has on the lives of the lost. You will be prepared to move beyond inviting people to church and really begin sharing your faith and hope with others.

c/ Practical tools for reaching the lost. You'll have a deeper understanding of why the church is not reaching the lost, and why we haven't been able to establish real effective connections with people who don't go to church.

PERSONALIZED WITNESS IS THE KEY - IT IS FIRST ABOUT THEM, THEN ABOUT JESUS,  AND ONLY THEN ABOUT CHURCH. YOU LISTEN, CARE ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS, SHARE HOW JESUS HAS HELPED YOU, EXPLAIN HOW JESUS CAN HELP THEM, SHARE HOW THEY CAN LEARN ABOUT HIM IN CHURCH.
